Virtual communication, as a written-speech phenomenon, differs in its characteristics from all other forms of speech and constitutes a distinct type of discourse. For example, I. R. Galperin identified conversational speech as a separate type of discourse in comparison with and in relation to the literary language. According to him, the formal aspect of conversational speech occupies a leading position. Therefore, virtual communication, in comparison with and in relation to the literary language, should also be regarded as a distinct type of discourse.
